Originally published as
The Southern Star, this weekly newspaper was
delivered free to Hobart’s suburban households. From
June 1990 it was published twice weekly. In early 1992
a fee was introduced, and on 16 July 1992 the first
Birth Notice was published. From December 1996 four
separate suburban editions were published weekly: The
Bay-City Star, Glenorchy Star, The Eastern Shore Star
and The Kingborough Star. In September 1997
these four newspapers merged as The Star, the
last edition appearing on 23 July 1998. Copies of the
newspapers are available on film in the Reference
Section, the State Library of Tasmania. Where
applicable, children are indexed under both the fathers’
and mothers’ surnames. |
